The Control Panel - User

The Control Panel for each site user - allows users to manage their Personal Profile, change email settings, display personal usage statistics and backup and restore files.

You can manage your directory using any standard Web Browser.  To access your directory, type the URL http://'your-domain-name'/personal into your browser. You will be redirected to our secure server and prompt for your username and password (ignore the certificate warning).

When you access your directory, the Personal Profile screen appears with the Modify User table.

Modify User Password

You can change your full name and password by typing in the new details and clicking on 'Confirm Modify'.  The username and password are used to access your POP/IMAP email account.

Email

The email section allows you to select email options.

To set your email options:

  • On the Personal Profile screen, click 'Email' on the left.  The Email Settings table appears.

  • To forward email to another address, enter the destination email address in the 'Forward Email To' field. Click 'Save Changes'.  If left blank the mail can be collected via POP or IMAP.

  • You can create a vacation-reply message that is automatically sent to each person who sends you email.  A vacation reply is only sent once a week to each sender.  Click the 'Vacation Reply' checkbox, type the text of your message and click 'Save Changes'.

Usage Data

The usage data section displays the amount of disk space used, free and allowed in Mb.

Backup

As a site user you can backup your files.  When you select a backup method, your web browser prompts you to save a file containing all of your backup data.  This data includes your home directory files, your email inbox and your vacation autoresponder message. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Restore

Restore allows you to restore all files and subdirectories in your home directory previously saved using the 'Backup' function.  Do not interupt an archive restore because this can corrupt data.  If the restore process is interrupted, the user can try and restore again.
